CONVERACIÓN BÁSICA – BASIC SPANISH CONVERSATION KEY QUESTIONS

Today I’m going to teach you the key basic conversation questions in Spanish. Let’s stat by saying:

¡Hola! ¿Cómo estás? [hello! How are you?]

To which you can reply:

Estoy bien, gracias. [I’m well, thank you]

Then, you can ask:

¿y tú? [How about you?]

You can use this question to avoid repetition and to basically ask the same question. To ask for someone’s name you have 2 options:

  1. ¿Como te llamas? [What are you called?]
  2. ¿Cuál es tu nombre? [what’s your name?]

The answer to any of these questions, you can use the following 3 options:

  1. Mi nombre es… [My name is…]
  2. Me llamo… [I’m called…]
  3. Soy… [I’m…]

If you’d like to ask someone where they’re from you can say:

¿De dónde eres? [Where are you from?]

And the answer to that question is

Soy de… [I’m from…]

The next question can be used to ask where they live:

¿Donde vives? [Where do you live?]

If they ask you, then the answer is:

Vivo en… [I live in…?]

The next question is to ask about people’s age:

¿Cuántos años tienes? [How old are you?]

Respuesta/Answer:

Tengo xx años [I’m XX years old]

You can then move the conversation into a more personal aspect and find out more about who they are and what they do.

¿Dónde trabajas? [Where do you work?]

Respuesta:

Yo trabajo en [I work in…]

You can also ask:

¿Cuál es tu profesión? [What’s your occupation?]

Respuesta:

Soy… [I’m…]

When you’re ready to end the conversation, and be polite you can say:

Mucho gusto [Nice to meet you]

Un placer [It’s been a pleasure]

Adiós [Goodbye]

I really hope you can put these basic questions to good use and have fun with it 😊
